Oyo Goverment bans illegal collection of fees in public schools
In all state-owned main and secondary schools, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has prohibited illegal collection of taxes.
The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) states that the order was confirmed by a circular published Tuesday in Ibadan by Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Amidat Agboola.
The circular was addressed to the Permanent Secretaries and agency heads related to education. In his inaugural speech on May 29, 2019, Gov. Seyi Makinde directed that all forms of payment be discontinued with instant impact in government main and secondary schools.

"All government main and secondary schools, including technical colleges, are therefore forbidden from collecting fees / levies across the state.
"The collection of charges in these schools remains illegal under any circumstances; any violator of the directive will be handled as a saboteur and heavy penalty awaits violators of this directive," the circular stated.
