LAUTECH retrieves ex-student’s certificate over failure to come before investigate panels

On Wednesday, the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Senate, Ogbomoso, said it approved the withdrawal of the certificate awarded to one Oluwanisola Femi Akeju, a graduate of the institution's Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The university's public relations officer, Mr. Akin, said in a statement sent to DAILY POST that Akeju's certificate had been withdrawn because of his reluctance to appear before several panels to investigate his claims of victimization against a lecturer in the university's Department of Pure and Applied Biology.

In the declaration, Fadeyi said that Akeju claimed that the lecturer had failed him for six years in a specific biology course, but had failed to demonstrate his case before the investigation boards set up to explore the institution's matted, stating that this made the institution withdraw its certificate.

The spokesperson for the institution added that other sanctions authorized by the senate of the university were the immediate suspension of the issuance of academic transcript to him; the declaration of outcomes given by the university to Mr. Akeju was instantly invalidated and his academic certificate was retained until further notice.

The declaration reads:' The Senate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has approved the withdrawal of a certificate awarded to an Oluwanisola Femi Akeju, a graduate of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, for refusing to appear before several panels established to investigate his claims of victimization against an unnamed teacher in the Department of Pure

In an internet medium published on March 15, 2018, the alumnus, who graduated in the 2013/2014 academic session with a graduation number 083659, stated that a certain lecturer had failed him for six years in a specific biology course.

"All the efforts taken by the institution's multiple branches to allow Mr. Akeju to shed more light on the accusations before multiple inquiry boards did not yield any fruit as he denied the requests made to him to ensure that he received redress and booked the said lecturer.

"Other spurious allegations included that he sat for BIO 101, 102, 104 and 106 and scored grade' A' in all the classes. However, investigation into his academic record stated that Oluwanisola Femi Akeju enrolled for and passed BIO 101(E), 102(E), 103(E) and did not register at the University for BIO 104 in his first year until the second semester of his additional year in the 2013/2014 session and passed with' E' grade.

"Other penalties authorized by the Senate of the University are the immediate suspension of the issue of academic transcript to him; the declaration of outcomes given by the University to Mr. Oluwanisola Femi Akeju shall be invalidated instantly and his academic certificate shall be retained until further notice."
