COREN have accredited 16 engineering courses in six universities
In the second quarter of 2019, the Council for Engineering Regulation in Nigeria stated that it accredited 16 engineering classes at six universities across the nation.
The President of COREN, Mr Ali Rabiu, produced this announcement to newsmen in Abuja on Friday at the end of COREN's 162nd Ordinary Meeting.
He said at the quarterly Ordinary Meeting the accreditation was approved.
Rabiu said eight of the sixteen programs located in the country's six universities received complete accreditation while the others received provisional accreditation.
He said institutions starting the different program were given provisional accreditation in order to undergo another accreditation phase before graduating the first batch of learners.
The COREN chief said that no accreditation was denied to any of the organizations, but added that at the conference the committee had decided to resume its visit to universities for post accreditation.

He said the council also approved the registration of six consulting companies in engineering, 1,146 engineers, 172 technologists, eight engineering technicians and 26 craftsmen in engineering.
Rabiu said the challenge for COREN and the entire engineering family in the nation was to have more engineers than technicians in the nation.
He said the committee was still debating reviving technical schools in the nation with state governments with a perspective to adopting and maintaining worldwide norms of getting more technicians than engineers.
