Adamawa goverment begins free feeding for boarding secondary schools
The Adamawa State Government has launched a free feeding program for its boarding high school pupils.
State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri spoke on Monday in Yola about the program while welcoming members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who were led by his candidate for governorship at the 2019 general election, Sen. Abdul-Azeez Nyako, on a solidarity trip to him.
Fintiri said the feeding of boarding secondary school students has commenced in nine schools and would be extended to cover all the 52 boarding schools in the state in the near future.

Governor Fintiri also announced that from September all types of school charges will be abolished so that parents will no longer be bothered by school charges.
Fintiri spoke days after reporting a baseline study on causes of elevated rates of out - of-school kids in the state suggested free education among others, stating that many learners dropped out of school at the stage of sitting for final examination because they were unable to pay the fee for such examination.

The governor said his government's gestures were intended to create quality education conveniently accessible to all the state's individuals, adding that, "Our strategy is to ensure that government schools are able to compete with the state's high-quality private schools." Fintiri welcomed the ADC delegation on its solidarity trip and said that his administration was eligible to take guidance from a distance.
The leader of the ADC delegation, Abdul-Azeez Nyako, said earlier in his speech that he and his party members paid the visit of solidarity to Governor Fintiri because Fintiri and his Democratic People's Party (PDP) carried the ADC along.

"As a group, ADC intends to assure you of assistance; we're not going to warm up the policy for you," Fintiri assured Abdul-Aziz.
