Students accuse management of insensitivity, ineptitude - Osun Polytechnic

As the crisis at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, continues after the death of Aminu Shehu, an HND one student, the institution's learners carpeted the school's management for what they called their portion insensitivity.

The Students, led by Students ' Union Government President, Comrade Bolaji Ezekiel, claimed that the college authorities ' intrinsic level of insensitivity was accountable for their colleague's death.

Ezekiel, who spoke to newsmen in Wednesday's NUJ Correspondents ' Chapel, Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, also frowned at the citadel's state of infrastructure.
He also accused the management of misleading the general public through various media content, stating that this was not the real account of what happened.

According to him, during the protest that welcomed the incident, the union did not carry out the destruction of property at the school's clinic, saying the protest was hijacked by miscreants who attacked the building and looted some equipment.

"We are courageous to say the leadership misinformed against the learners and made efforts to incite the general public.
"It was on that basis that we considered it essential to set the record straight and inform the public that the deceased had been hurried to the school health center a few minutes before 5 pm, when the clinic medical staff said they had closed for the day.

"They also did not make the clinic ambulance accessible after dismissing the student to transport the deceased to another hospital in the city. We've got to take him on a motorcycle.

"Unfortunately, after leaving the school premises, he couldn't make it to the hospital, he died a few minutes," he said.
However, the leader of the learners condemned the school authority's action to suspend the union's operations, arguing that there was no justification for banning the association of legitimate learners.

He also encouraged the college management's investigative panel to be objective, honest, and just in its suggestions, exposing learners guilty of the crisis.
